Bangalore: Expressing deep concern over the nexus between contractors, engineers and a section of politicians, Chief Minister, Siddarmaiah alleged on Thursday that several projects were getting delayed especially in Bangalore because of this.
The state government is committed to restore the international status of Bangalore city in the next five years by focusing on improving road conditions and the garbage disposal mechanism, he said.
Speaking at the launch of the second phase of the highways development programme organised by the Public Works Development, Siddaramaiah said, “The nexus is affecting development projects, but we are committed to set right the wrongs committed by previous goÂvernments in the last seven years.”
Citing several examples, Siddaramiah claimed the pot filling drive in Mysore could not achieve the desired results as the potholes were first filled with mud and then covered with tar instead of asphalt. So the potholes resurfaced after the first rains.
“The nexus affects the state exchequer and results in a manifold rise in the project cost,” the CM rued. Unveiling plans to improve Bangalore’s infrastructure, SidÂdÂaramaiah said his government had lined up a series of projects in the months.
“In the last couple of years, Bangalore is neglected completely and is being described as Garbage City instead of Garden City,” he quipped. The roads are also set to be improved, he said.
“Many roads have been re-laid. All major and minor roads will get a facelift soon. Our priority is Bangalore, we will restore its global glory,” he said.
