President may not extend Telangana talk
Hyderabad: President Pranab Mukherjee is unlikely to extend the time limit for the state Assembly to debate the AP Reorganisation Bill, 2013, beyond the deadline of January 23.
Political parties failed to start any debate on the division Bill in the recently concluded Assembly session; instead, they fixed a staggered schedule to debate the Bill in three phases. This has come as a surprise to Rashtrapati Bhavan, official sources told this newspaper.
Some top officials in Rashtrapati Bhavan are well-versed in the ramifications of the Telangana statehood issue, as is their boss, as they have been assisting him from the early days of UPA-I which constituted a sub-committee under the chairmanship of the President to hold discussions with all political parties on Telangana statehood. They went through voluminous records, and have a comprehensive idea about the issue.
