Medical negligence: Mariyam recovers, family members relieved
Bangalore: After enduring doctors’ negligent and blaze attitude at the Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Trauma and Orthopedics, three-year-old Mariyam Kousar is finally responding to treatment for her brain hemorrhage.
Mariyam’s aunt Reshma said that her niece is not on the ventilator support anymore and is trying to breathe on her own, which, she says, is a good sign.
Mariyam was admitted to the Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Trauma and Orthopedics on December 13 after sustaining a minor fracture in her left leg. The three-year- old suffered a severe brain hemorrhage after she underwent operation on December 16.
When her parents asked for their daughter’s medical report, the doctor did not provide it. “Mariyam was running high temperature. When we became aggressive, the doctor gave us her report and referred her to Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health. She was later shifted to Malathi Manipal Hospital on December 18 as she required ventilator support,” Reshma said.
