Bangalore: Terming the legislator's proposed junket immoral when the state is facing drought, Nav Bharat Democratic Party, on Thursday, demanded the people's representatives to drop the tour to South America. The tour is a joke on the tax payers' expense, said party president R.K. Misra.
He threatened to hold a massive protest if the legislators did not drop the plan by Sunday. “Such tours are organized twice in five years for every legislature as per the legislative procedure. This provision must be cancelled,” Misra said in a press release here.
Similar trips undertaken earlier were just pleasure trips and holidays for the MLAs and their families at the expense of the tax payers, he pointed out.
The party will submit a memorandum to the Governor urging him to stop such practices which misuse the public exchequer.
