Captain TV editor alleged of sexual harassment seeks bail
Chennai: Dinesh Kumar, 27, the editor of Captain TV’s news department, arrested and lodged in Puzhal prison on the charge of harassing a former woman sub-editor of the channel, has filed a bail petition before the Judicial Magistrate’s court in Poonamallee.
On a complaint from the woman, Maduravoyal police registered a case and arrested him around midnight on Saturday. The woman alleged that Dinesh used sexually explicit language when she was working as his subordinate. The Captain TV channel employee denied the charges, stating that the complaint was frivolous. She joined the job only on October 2 and left it on November 27.
In the bail petition, Dinesh stated that for the past three months, the woman had not discharged her duties as per the expectations of the management and the editor had submitted a report to the H.R. Department in this regard.
She was shifted to another department and without informing anyone, left the company on November 25. The channel settled her dues, and a month later, she lodged the complaint with the police. Seeking bail, Dinesh said that he was innocent.
