Feeling of fear and excitement

There are times when real life imitates reel life.

There are times when real life imitates reel life. Taking inspiration from the title of the upcoming film 'Salala Mobiles', a slew of shops that sell mobiles and its accessories — almost 37 — named 'Salala Mobiles' have sprung in various parts of the state. Some of the existing shops have also rechristened themselves as SM. Director Sharath A. Haridaasan is feeling both fear and happiness at this development.

Explaining his emotions, he says, “I am slightly scared because there is so much hype about the film even before its release. There is so much expectation about the film from the audience and I pray that it meets the expectations.”

Sharath explains a personal experience he had, “I needed to buy a headphone for my mobile and went to a shop in Kochi and it was while I was getting out that my friend mentioned that the name of the shop was Salala Mobiles. I smiled and walked away.” Sharath also does not fail to mention Rajith K.M., the man behind the catchy font of the title. He says that the font is a modified part of an existing pattern and that he is happy that Rajith’s work has been appreciated.

Sharath mentions that the popularity of the title is also thanks to the popularity Dulquer Salmaan enjoys. Salala Mobiles is a simple and straight forward story, says Sharath says with no gimmicks. It tells the story of Dulquer, a happy go lucky, aimless and lazy person. He starts a mobile shop which is funded by his uncle who stays in Salalah. Once he sets up shop, a lot of different personalities visit his shop, one of them being Nazriya. The profound change that comes over him and the way he responds is what the rom-com is all about.
