Sonam Kapoor’s tryst with language

On-location shoots can mean long hours spent away from home and heart — and sometimes, even any form of entertainment — for actors. But Sonam Kapoor, who has been holed up in Bikaner for a shoot schedule for 'Khoobsurat', that extends over two months, has been making good use of her time.

We had reported a little while ago that Sonam has barely any phone or Internet connectivity while she shoots in remote areas of Rajasthan. Now we hear that the actress has been using her time to pick up the local Marwari language. Incidentally, Sonam has to deliver a few Marwari lines in 'Khoobsurat'.

“On the sets, Sonam usually shoots for 10-12 hours a day with little time left over for anything else. However, since this has been an extended stay, she has had time to engage with the locals. She was charmed by the Marwari language and accent that she heard them speak and has immersed herself in learning the language. While Sonam is vaguely familiar with Marwari, the dialect and intonation in Bikaner has fascinated her and she’s putting in the hours necessary to master it. In fact, she’s very excited to show off her newly acquired skill to her family and friends!” says a source close to the actress.
