Gulbarga: With the BJP reportedly all set to welcome former Chief Minister, B.S. Yeddyurappa back into its fold and the latter seeming eager to regain his lost position in the saffron party, two MLAs from Gulbarga and Yadgir districts are facing an uncertain future.
Although both KJP MLAs, B.R. Patil of Aland and Guru Patil of Shahpur , have good equations with Yeddyurappa, they are reluctant to follow him into the BJP. “I cannot stand the BJP. So where is the question of going with Yeddyurappa?” says B.R. Patil.
The MLA is not thinking of going back to the Congress party either as he had left it on the eve of the last Assembly election protesting the “political scheming” of former Chief Minister, N Dharam Singh. He also rules out joining the JD(S) as he is not on good terms with party supremo, H.D. Deve Gowda. So will he remain neutral in the coming Lok Sabha election? "I have not made up my mind on this as yet," he responds.
Guru Patil is meanwhile, reportedly in a dilemma over whether he should join the BJP or remain independent. According to sources close to him, the MLA is against joining the BJP as he believes it would be suicidal for him career- wise. “ He cannot think of joining the Congress due to the presence of Sharanabasappa Darshanapur, and so he could remain independent and decide on his future course of action at an appropriate time,” say sources.
But senior leader KJP MLA from Bidar,Gurupadappa Nagamarapally, has reportedly decided to rejoin BJP which he had left along with Yeddyurappa, to help the political career of his son, Suryakanth Nagamarapally.
Sources said Nagamarapall senior, who had tried his best along with B.R. Patil and Guru Patil, to persuade Yeddyurappa not to merge KJP with BJP, has decided to don the saffron robes in view of the assurances by BJP leaders on fielding his son as MP candidate.
"Except Nagamarapally there are few leaders in BJP who can match Singh in money power. Though Suryakanth, who lost the 2008 Assembly electione, cannot be compared with Singh in stature, he has money power and could make the best of the Modi wave to put up a challenge", reasoned a political analyst.
