Bus mishap victims’ kin seek Prabhakar’s arrest
Hyderabad: Relatives of the Mahbubnagar bus accident victims are still waiting for justice. On Wednesday, they alleged that the government has not made any significant move to compensate them or to punish the people responsible for the mishap.
The families sought immediate arrest of Congress politician J.C. Prabhakar Reddy, who owned the bus. They also wanted the government to pay a compensation of Rs 25 lakh. The relatives sought government jobs for the closest kin of the mishap victims as well.
The Joint Action Committee of victims’ families will hold a candle-light march in the city on December 28 to protest the government’s negligence. The members of the Joint Action Committee said that state transport minister Botsa Satya Narayana had driven them away when they approached him with grievances.
“When we tried to approach Satyanarayana seeking justice for the victims’ families, he asked us,‘Why are you coming to me? I am not the responsible person’. This is the attitude of the transport minister,” said Joint Action Committee leader Dr Sudhakar. The victims’ relatives also demanded the immediate resignation of the transport minister.
“Many families have lost their sole breadwinners, and the government has not paid attention to their grievances. We call the mishap a ‘state murder’, as it happened due the negligence of road transport department,” he said.
