Diwakar Reddy men await decision
Anantapur: After the Pradesh Congress Committee disciplinary committee sought explanation over his comments on party chief Sonia Gandhi, senior Congress leader J.C. Diwakar Reddy’s group awaited with bated breath for its decision in the district.
With the speculation rife over his leaving party after a group of leaders including APCC president Botsa Satayanarayana and revenue minister N. Raghuveera Reddy were acting against the senior Congress leader due to internal bickering, J.C. Diwakar Reddy had directed his brother and son to act independently following the consequences.
However, J.C. Prabhakar Reddy’s decision to consult the group leaders and party cadre at all parts of the district, had sent strong signals of leaving the Congress. JC brothers’ had own group at sensitive parts like Rapthadu, Dharmavaram and Hindupur in the district, have been waiting for the decision.
As already speculation rife over shifting loyalties to YSR Congress, Diwakar Reddy’s son J.C. Pavankumar Reddy was offered Tadipathri Assembly segment seat and also Anantapur Lok Sabha seat for Prabhakar Reddy or any of their family members.
Meanwhile JC Diwakar reddy cadre were preparing ground to shift to YSR Congress at their respective segments in the district. For instance, a strong group from Congress in Hindupur Assembly segment was supporting Diwakar Reddy.
A senior leader said, a decision would soon be taken after organising a meeting with the party cadre and close aides. Sources said, Telugu Desam had also offered a seat for Prabhakar Reddy from Anantapur Lok Sabha, but he was in dilemma for the past three months over changing political scenario in the district and particularly in the state.
Anantapur District Congress Committee president K. Madhusudhan Guptha, who extended support to Diwakar Reddy for his serious comments on Sonia Gandhi, was keeping silent over the consequences.
