MRC Kannur softball victors
Kochi: MRC Kannur clinched the Maxo Cup all Kerala softball cricket tournament under floodlights at the St. Albert’s College ground in Kochi on Sunday.
In the 6-over tournament, MRC chose to field first and their opponents Smash Boys Tripunithura made a total of 56 for 5 with Jomi hitting a topscoring 22. In response, MRC scored a convincing victory in just 3.5 overs. Mohammed was declared the man-of-the-match in the final after he scored an unbeaten 36.
Libin of Smash Boys was chosen as best batsman and Billu of MRC won the best bowler title while Saddiq of ICC Malappuram bagged the man-of-the-series prize.
Kerala advances to Tennikoit QF

Kochi: Kerala men and women teams stormed into the quarterfinals of the 38th senior tennikoit championship at Odisha. The state men’s team scored crushing 3-0 victories over Uttarakhand and Bihar while the women followed suit by defeating Jharkhand and Haryana en route to the quarterfinals.
In the last eight stages, Kerala men take on Pondicherry while the women play against hosts Odisha.
St. George’s make final

St. George’s HS Edapally cruised to the final of level 4 inter-school cricket tournament of the KCA at Ashrama Maidan in Kollam. In the first semifinal, St. George’s defeated HSS Thiruvambadi, Alappuzha by 8 runs as Abdul Basith’s all-round performance proved to be the difference in a narrow win.
St. George’s made 194 batting first. While Ashik K. top scored with 42 runs, it was Basith’s 36 runs and 4 wicket haul that turned the match in St. George’s favour. Pradeep and Gireesh’s half centuries went in vain as HSS Thiruvambadi was bowled out for 186 in the 48th over.
