Minimum temperature to rise over Bangalore

With an easterly wave brining in clouds over Bangalore, the minimum temperature is expected.

Bangalore: With an easterly wave brining in clouds over Bangalore, the minimum temperature is expected to rise by 2 degrees Celsius. Over the last one week, the minimum temperature was hovering between 13 and 16 degrees Celsius, making early morning and late night hours chilly.

The cloud cover, expected to hover over the next two days, will increase the minimum temperature. The easterly movement will bring rains to parts of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and southern parts of Karnataka, including Bangalore.

“There could be some light rains in some areas of south-interior Karnataka, but the clouding will bring down the chill. So far, 13.4 degrees Celsius recorded on December 16 is the lowest so far for this month in Bangalore.

At present, the minimum temperature in Bangalore is about one degree Celsius above the normal temperature. We are expecting further fall in the temperature only after the clouds get cleared,” said B. Puttanna, Director-in-Charge, IMD, Bangalore.

This winter, northern parts of the state have registered record low temperatures. Bijapur recorded 9 degrees Celsius for more than three days, which is about 8 degrees below the normal. Belgaum, Gularga and Bidar too recorded temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius.

Most centres in north Karnataka recorded above 10 degrees Celsius on Monday, lowest being 11.7 degrees Celsius in Dharwad city.
