‘Yeddyurappa, loyalists will return soon’

Former state president of the BJP K.S. Eshwarappa on Sunday.

Bellary: Former state president of the BJP K.S. Eshwarappa on Sunday expressed confidence that former chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa who quit the BJP over differences and founded Karnataka Janata Party (KJP), would return to the party fold very soon.

Speaking to media persons here on Sunday, Eshwarappa said a report to senior party leaders on Yeddyurappa’s return to the party has been sent and party leaders have given the "green signal" for his return to the BJP. Discussions with national president of the party Rajnath Singh and senior leader L.K. Advani on his reinduction are over, he added.

"Not only Yeddyurappa, even his followers who quit BJP will return to the party with him," Eshwarappa said. Yeddyurappa had quit the BJP in December last year and formed KJP after the saffron party refused to reinstate him as CM.

Eshwarappa termed Badava Sharamika Raitha Congress Party launched by B Sreeramulu as a "part" of the BJP and exuded confidence that Ramulu would also rejoin the party in the coming days. "Our leaders who quit BJP will all return to the party, " he said.

“Our differences benefited the Congress party in the State and helped them come to power. We have learnt lessons from the mistakes we committed in the past and we will not repeat them in the coming days," the former BJP state chief said. "We will fight the Lok Sabha elections unitedly on our strength, " he added.

On the plight of farmers in the state, he said paddy, sugarcane, coconut and arecanut growers are in misery and the state government has neglected them. "I urge Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to convene an all party meeting and discuss measures to lend a helping hand to the growers because the Lok Sabha elections are round the corner and later on, it would be difficult to address their problems properly," Eshwarappa added.
