More animals to arrive at zoo park in January
Visakhapatnam: Minister Vijayarama Raju said the zoo park is all set to welcome new animals- mandrills, lemur monkeys, marmoset monkeys in January second week as a Sankrati gift to zoo visitors.
He also said that Vizag zoo will get a pair of Cheetahs (one male and one female) from the Dvur Kralove Zoo in Czech Republic and the zoo will also get two pairs of fishing cats and pair of pigmy hippos from Colombo Zoo of Sri Lanka.
Curator of zoo, G. Ramalingam said they were chalking out plans to bring Thamin Deer, Leopard Cat, Black Bear and Rose Pelicans from Assam zoo in the coming months to attract more zoo visitors from various parts of the region.
Ramalingam told that a total of 36 varieties of animals, including 25 new species brought to Vizag zoo in the last three years. Many people thronged the enclosure, being Sunday.
