8 hurt as tipper loses control
Hyderabad: A tipper lorry driver created mayhem at Sun City, near Narsingi, on Sunday morning, after the driver lost control injuring at least eight people, and damaging six vehicles. The lorry rammed on two cars, three bikes, and an auto rickshaw one after the other before it stopped on the roadside after hitting few pedestrians.
The incident occurred at around 11.30 am on Sunday, when the tipper lorry was going towards Kali Mandir. The driver, lost control, due to technical failure of the vehicle and rammed on a car on the left side of the road.
“Then, it went on to hit other vehicles on. It dashed into another car, an auto rickshaw, and three bikes near the Sun City bus stop,” said Narsingi sub inspector Prabhakar Reddy.
Utter panic prevailed in the area as around eight people lay on the ground injured. As the lorry stopped, the driver tried to run away from the spot, however, locals caught him after a brief chase and informed the emergency services and police.
Soon all the victims were rushed to nearby hospitals. Two victims were seriously injured and rushed to a private hospital, while others have been declared to be out of danger.
Police took the driver Abdul Naeem into custody and also confiscated the tipper lorry, with registration number AP 12 T 4007.
