After debuting with one of the most successful movies, Rahul Haridas aka Tyson, the nerdy guy with glasses from 'Happy Days', is back with his new movie 'Love You Bangaram', set to release in January.
Unlike most debutants who go on a signing spree, after 'Happy Days', which released six years back, Rahul almost disappeared from T-town.
“I was only a teenager when I did 'Happy Days'. Then, my second film 'Rainbow' went unnoticed. A big project that I worked towards and waited for nearly 18 months did not take off. After all these, I was dejected. But, once I decided that I loved films and wanted to be a part of the industry, I knew I had to work on myself, change my approach and be patient. I am starting from scratch again.”
After a tough phase, Rahul finally signed Maruthi’s film, 'Love You Bangaram'. Talking about his role, Rahul says, “It’s a very contemporary romantic thriller which has its share of entertainment. The story is between an insecure innocent guy and a confident girl.”
Six years after his first release, Tollywood is a whole new world says Rahul. “Tollywood has definitely changed over the years. The budgets have increased, the audiences have increased and the reach of the films has increased to newer territories.” He adds, “One good thing is that now the big names from the indust-ry are producing small films.”
One major change that one can see in Rahul is his makeover. With six-pack abs and a new attitude, Rahul is no more the Tyson that everyone relates to. “I worked really hard to maintain a lean physique. During the break I took from acting, I put a lot of effort into building my body.” So, will the audiences see him showing off his abs in Love You Bangaram? Rahul says, “No. My director was adamant that I stop working out as I play an innocent guy and shouldn’t come across as a conventionally good-looking guy. ”
