Lagadapati Rajagopal calls for united protest

Vijayawada Congress MP Lagadapati Rajagopal said the time was ripe for integrationists.

Tirupati: Vijayawada Congress MP Lagadapati Rajagopal said the time was ripe for integrationists to take their fight to the next level in order to keep the state united. Addressing the media in Tirupati on Saturday, the Congress MP fumed at the Congress high command for totally ignoring the wishes of people from Seemandhra. He said that this has become evident from the various clauses in the Telangana Bill.

Stating that a government that does not respect the wishes of people would be resented, the Vijayawada MP warned that people of Seemandhra region would teach a befitting lesson to the Congress.
“The unilateral decision of the Congress high command to go ahead with bifurcation of the state, despite the protests by the Congress leaders from Seemandhra region indicates that the party will be once and for all buried in the region,” he said.

The Vijayawada MP said its time to set aside the ‘Gentlemen agreement’ (Peddamanushula Oppandam) and act in accordance to the sentiments of the Telugu speaking people of both the regions.

who are strongly supporting a united Andhra Pradesh. Expressing confidence in the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy for taking the fight till the very last minute, Rajagopal dramatically said only time would decide if the CM turns an ‘Arjuna’ or a ‘Abhimanyu’.

Sounding a clear warning to the rulers at the Centre, the Congress MP said the patience of the people of Seemandhra region was running out .
He urged integrationists cutting across party lines to join forces to stall the Telangana Bill and expressed hope that the Bill could be stalled if the majority forces unite in the ongoing fight against the bifurcation of the state.
