AP to staff: Give data, or lose pay

People believe this is to prepare for split.

Hyderabad: The state government has directed all it’s employees to furnish the complete data with regard to their employment and family details by December 24. It warned employees that they will not receive the salary for the month of January if they failed to furnish the data within the deadline.

The government has devised a special “optical mark recognition” sheet comprising four pages and has provided the same to each employee. The employees were directed to fill all the details in the OMR sheet and submit to drawing and disbursing officers (DDOs) in their respective districts.

The DDOs were asked to fill these details online and submit the same to finance department by January 5, 2014. The move assumed significance in the backdrop of proposed bifurcation of the state. The mammoth exercise to collect online data of nearly 10 lakh government employees being undertaken by the finance department has become a subject of hot debate.

Distribution of employees for both the new states is one of the contentious issues that is expected to come up after bifurcation and the ongoing exercise is being seen as a move by the government to keep ready the “authentic data” submitted by employees themselves to avoid unnecessary controversies in future over their local, non-local status.

Very minute details were sought from the employees. They have to furnish details such as employee category, if deputed, then specify from which department, previous employment department, place of birth, post/designation at first appointment, place of initial appointment, details of local status as per Presidential Order, current designation/ post, local cadre of the post, office in which employees is working, head of account of salary, spouse’s work details, Aadhaar number of spouse, parents and children etc.
