Teenage girl gangraped in Jaipur
Jaipur: A 17-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped by three youths in a hotel here, police said today. In an FIR moved through a court's order, a woman alleged that on November 23, her daughter was taken by Phoolchand Meena (25) in a car to a hotel in Daulatpura where he and two of his friends raped her, Vishwakarma SHO Kishan Singh said.
The accused had threatened the victim of dire consequences if she revealed the incident to anybody, the SHO said. Meena's two friends are yet to identified, the SHO said, adding that a case under various sections of the IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered against them.
Meanwhile, a 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by Bunty (23) in a slum area of Transport Nagar on November 28, SHO of TP Nagar police station Babulal Vishnoi said.
The accused also went to her house and threatened her uncle before trying to molest her again, he said. Bunty has been arrested under various sections of the IPC and the POCSO Act, he said.

IAF sergeant kills wife, attempts suicide
Ambala (Har): An Air Force sergeant allegedly stabbed his wife to death and tried to kill himself by jumping before a train at Ambala Cantt railway station.
The Air Force official, Anil, was living with his wife and two daughters in Air Force quarters near Khadga cinema here, police said. Last night, neighbours heard the couple quarrelling but nobody took it seriously, one of the neighbours told police today.
He told the police that when Anil left his quarter on his motorcycle the neighbours grew suspicious and barged into the house. They found his wife Reeta in a pool of blood and informed the police.
Meanwhile, the IAF official was caught by people at Ambala Cantt while he was trying to jump before a moving train. He was admitted to civil hospital here.
The couple's children were not present at the house as they had gone to a relative's house near Ambala Cantt railway station, police said. Reeta was declared brought dead at hospital. A case has been registered and further probe was on, police said.

Malda (WB): A teenaged girl was raped and brutally assaulted by a youth in Dhantala area of Englishbazar in the district.
Abhay Mondal (27) had lured the girl out of her home last night on the pretext of buying her a bicycle and then took her to a secluded spot where he raped her, police said, adding the youth was arrested.
After committing the crime, the youth slit the victim's throat with a sharp weapon and fled, assuming her to be dead, they said.
Though the girl was badly injured and lost consciousness, she somehow managed to come out and reach a roadside tea stall. Seeing the bleeding girl, local residents rushed her to the Malda Medical College for treatment.
District Superintendent of Police Kalyan Mukherjee and state Tourism Minister Krishnendu Narayan Chowdhury, who is also the local MLA, reached the hospital to ensure that the victim got proper treatment and the matter investigated.
"We have arrested Mondal late last night from the Birampur area of Kaliachak where he was hiding after committing the crime. Investigations are on," Mukherjee said.
Mondal was remanded in police custody for three days by a local court today.

Rajahmundry (AP): Six people have been arrested in connection with circulating counterfeit currency with a face value of Rs 1.93 lakh in the West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, police said here today.
Based on a tip-off a police team visited Enjapudi village in West Godavari district, where six people including former Eluru Municipal Corporator A Srinivas were arrested, after which the fake currency was seized from them.
Two laptops, one computer, one printer and some papers were also seized the police said. "We are investigating the case and interrogating the accused. We suspect that some more people are involved in the racket, since huge amount of counterfeit notes were seized in the district during earlier raids," the police said, adding that a case has been registered.

Nizamabad: In a shocking incident, a 17-year-old boy attempted to rape a 3-year-old girl in Mathamal village of Yellareddy mandal on Saturday. The incident came to light as the grandfather of the victim noticed the act.
According to Yellareddy police circle inspector M.G.S. Ramakrishna, the accused had taken the girl to the area behind the house and had attempted to rape her. The parents of the girl were not at home at that time.
Following the complaint of the girl’s grandfather, cops registered a case. The accused has been taken into custody.

Raipur: Five persons, including two children, were killed and two others injured when a mini busrammed into two motorcycles in the district today, police said. The mishap occurred this afternoon near a petrol pump, located about one km away from Gobra Navapara police station on Raipur-Gariaband road, a senior police official told PTI.
The mini bus was heading towards Rajim from Raipur when it collided with the bikes headed for Raipur.
The impact of the accident was such that both the motorcycles got stuck in the bumper of the bus and were dragged to some distance, killing five persons who were on the motorcycles on the spot, police said.
The deceased were identified as Ragini (3), Seema Sahu (14) and three youths- Harish Sahu, Roshan Sahu and Seetaram Sonkar, the official said, adding the injured persons were shifted to a government hospital here. A case has been registered and efforts are on to trace driver of the bus who fled the spot after the mishap.

Hyderabad: A software engineer was arrested by cyber crime police for sending abusive mails to his former colleague’s wife in order to take revenge for a personal dispute.
The techie, A. Srinivasa Reddy, 36, from VV Nagar of Kukatpally, created a fake email ID in his former colleague, Narayana Reddy’s name, and sent abusive email from that ID to his wife.
According to ACP cyber crime, Cyberabad, D. Prathap Reddy, the victim and his wife approached the police alleging that anonymous abusive mails came to her official email.
“Following their complaint, we started an investigation and traced the accused by tracking the IP address,” Reddy said. Cyber crime inspector K. Sudarshan Reddy said that Srinivasa Reddy, who was working in Infosys, was sacked from the company after his superiors suspected his credibility.
“He was sacked after his superiors got an anonymous email saying that his education certificates were fake. Srinivasa suspected Narayan Reddy was behind this and developed a grudge,” the inspector said.
The accused is a native of Pattanam mandal of Kadapa district. A case has been booked under relevant sections of IT Act, and cops produced him before the court.

Chennai: Three women were among the five people arrested by the anti-vice squad of the city police on Saturday for running brothels and coerÂcÂing young, innocent woÂmÂen into the flesh trade on the pretext of running massage parlours and spas.
According to anti-vice sqÂuÂad personnel, they had receÂived several tip-offs aboÂut the flesh trade in parlours and even some salons.
“They lure young girls by promising big money and eventually make a business out of it,” the police said. Based on the tip-offs, the squad raided suspicious paÂrlÂours in the city and during one such raid on Friday in Kilpauk, the police found that the owner of Bright Beauty & Spa on MedÂavÂaÂkkam tank road was running a brothel.
They arrested owner Santhi, 28. Three young girls were rescued from the spa and sent to the government home at Kellys, a release from the police said.
In a similar raid in the Ramapuram and K.K. Nagar areas, two youth who lured young men by posing as parlour workers were arrested.
The police also rescued two young girls held captive by the gang and admitted them to a city home. All the arrested were remanded in custody on Saturday.

Mangalore: The Mangalore police on Saturday morning arrested eight goons for allegedly kidnapping two students, forcing them to have sex and then trying to extort them.
The goons kidnapped the students, a girl and a boy, from Derlakatte around 11 pm on December 18 and took them to an abandoned house. There, they ordered the boy and girl to pose in a compromising position. When the two refused, the accused assaulted them, forced them to have sex and filmed them.
The goons then demanded a ransom of Rs 25 lakh from the students with a threat that if not paid the video would be uploaded onto social networking websites and shown to their parents and teachers.
The two students finally agreed to pay Rs 3 lakh. The girl was sent to bring the money with a warning that if she did not return with cash, her friend would be killed.
The girl, who reached the town, informed the police, who on Saturday morning raided the house of the main accused in Katipalla and arrested the eight people. Police Commissioner R. Hithendra said that of the eight arrested, three were rowdies, while the criminal antecedents of others were also being verified.
All of them have been taken into police custody for interrogation. The police seized the video clipping and are investigating whether it had already been uploaded to websites. The commissioner refused to reveal the identities of the eight accused.

Chennai: The police claimed on Saturday to have secured three persons in the case of the armed attack and burglary of around 110 sovereigns from the residence of a senior citizen couple near Kolathur on Friday.
According to police sources, a special team nabbed the gang from their hideout at Rasipuram in Namakkal. Bhaktavatchalam, 71, a retired lecturer from a university in Andhra Pradesh, and his wife, Nirmala Devi, 62, were alone in their house at Jayanthi Nagar in Kolathur, when the gang entered the house and robbed them.
Police initially maintained that on the day of the incident, masked men had robbed the couple.
On Saturday, investigators said the robbers gained entry into the house as guests, as one of the arrested persons, Raghuraman, had worked as a car driver for the elderly couple until a few months ago.
Raghuraman visited the couple, along with his three friends, on the pretext of meeting them and all of a sudden, the gang locked the doors, threatened the couple at knifepoint and fled with the valuables from the lockers after attacking them, a police officer said. The couple was admitted to a private hospital, where they are said to be in a stable condition.
The other persons detained were identified as Muthu and Senthil from Rasipuram and a hunt is on to secure the other accused, Raj Kumar, the police said. Around 113 sovereigns of gold jewellery were recovered from the gang. Further investigations are on.

Srikakulam: A constable working at Srikakulam fire station attacked his wife and even injured her maternal grandmother at Arasavalli in the early hours of Saturday.
According to reports reaching here, Nadiminti Satyannarayana, a native of Kambaravalasa in Veeragattam mandal, married Palla Divyasri on December 8.
On Friday, they hosted a house-warming ceremony at Arasavalli. Late in the night, Satyannarayana had a heated argument with Divya and in a fit of rage attacked her with a blade and injured her on the neck and hands.
Divya’s maternal grandmother Nalla Narayanamma, who was also present at the place, tried to calm down the situation but Narayana attacked her and her right hand got fractured.
In the meanwhile, in a bid to save herself, Divya ran out of the house and Narayana followed her. As she came near a well, he pushed her into the waters and even threw a boulder on her head to kill her.
On information, locals rushed to the well and pulled Divya out. Divya and her grandmonther are receiving treatment at Care Hospital in Visakhapatnam. Doctors said that Divya has not regained senses as she had suffered a severe head injury.
Police took the accused into custody and registered a case against him under sections 307 and 325 of the IPC for attempt to murder, basing on a statement by Narayanamma. The motive behind the attack is not known.

Karimnagr: A woman sustained severe injuries after her husband, an AR constable working as a gunman to Choppadandi MLA, allegedly beat up her by a gun here on Thursday. Her condition is stated to be stable.
According to police, A. Ravi bashed up his wife Rajita following an argument over some petty issue. Ravi threatened to kill her with the gun, said the police.
The issue came to light when the victim was admitted to a government hospital on Saturday. The accused was gunman to Choppadandi MLA Suddala Devaiah.
Sources said, five to six cases were registered against him for different offences. He was suspended thrice. As per rules, he should not keep the firearm at his residence.
Reportedly, he has been keeping the gun with him. Following a complaint lodged by Rajita, a case of domestic violence has been registered.

Nellore: Anti Corruption Bureau sleuths have seized Rs 1,10,990 from the staff of different departments and some private persons during a raid on integrated checkpost at Bhimulavaripalem on AP-Tamil Nadu border late on Friday night.
Four teams headed by ACB inspectors took part in the operation under the supervision of DSP of ACB J. Bhaskar Rao.The cash was seized while inspecting the counters of excise, road transport, groundwater, commercial tax, animal husbandry, marketing, civil supplies and forest wings.
They found excise constables Bolli Srinivasa Rao, Sheik Rizwan Ahmed and Kandriga Subbaiah collecting bribes from trucks and seized Rs 5,490 from the trio.
The inspectors noticed the absence of an excise SI and three constables apart from a RTC employee although they signed in the attendance register.
The ACB teams seized Rs 55,675 from the counters of commercial taxes, mines, groundwater, marketing and civil supplies. The teams found Rs 34,800 with a private person Murali hired by some departments to collect bribes for them. This in addition to Rs 12,380 found with another private person.
They have also seized Rs 3,000 from the employees of different departments. ACB will send a report against 25 odd employees to the government re-commending action.
ACB Inspectors Venkateswarlu, M. Krupanandam, V. Srinivasulu, Ongole ACB SI Srinivasulu took part in the raid along 12 constables. They have detained five private persons, Suresh, Dayakar, Murali, Mari, Audi Reddy and Suneel Kumar during the raid.
There was some commotion when some locals objected to the detention of private persons but Tada police dispersed them.

Anantapur: As part of massive raids on RTA checkposts across the state, the Anti Corruption Burearu sleuths conducted a raid on Penukonda RTA check post on NH-44 road between Bengaluru-Anantapur in the early hours of Saturday.
During the raids, the ACB authorities seized Rs 53,440 from the staff, who were on duty at the checkpost and also detained assistant motor vehicle inspector Subba Rayudu, constable Balanna, home guard Kristappa and two other persons.
ACB DSP Bhaskar Reddy said that the team raided on the Penukonda RTA check post as part of massive raids across the state on Saturday morning and found excess cash of Rs53,440 from the staff who were on duty.
The ACB authorities verified all the records pertaining to collection of penalty and taxes from the vehicles passing through the NH-44 at Penukonda. The excess amount had no valid records and may be the bribes allegedly collected by the RTA staff from the vehicles, sources said.
Assistant motor vehicle inspector Subba Rayudu, constable Balanna and home guard Kristappa along with two persons were detained. According to sources, private persons were being used to collect bribes from the vehicles, who were evading tax and entering into the state.
ACB DSP said Subba Rayudu and other staff were being questioned in connection with amount. available.

Hyderabad: A teenager died after he sustained severe burns at his house in Jeed-imetla. The victim was identified as P. Radha Krishna, 16, son of P. Selvam, a carpenter.
According to the police, on Thursday evening, after returning home from work, Krishna lit the gas stove and was preparing a meal.
Suddenly, his clothes caught fire from the stove resulting in severe burns. He sustained about 90 per cent burns by the time he was rescued. He was shifted to Gandhi Hospital, where he succumbed to the burn injuries.

Mundlamuru (Prakasam): Molestation bid by a 65-year-old man ended in his death at Basavapuram village of Mundamuru Mandal in Prakasam district, late on Friday night.
According to sources, on Friday evening, Juvvadi Chinna Kondaiah invited a 6-year-old girl, studying in Class I, to his house.
The girl was returning home from school. When Kondaiah behaved inappropriately, the girl raised an alarm. Scared, Kondaiah let her go. On returning home, the girl narrated her experience to her family members.
Her aunt and other family members went to Kondaiah’s house and thrashed him. The local people intervened and saved Kondaiah from the enraged relatives. After a while, Kondaiah’s blood pressure dropped sharply, and he fainted.
His relatives rushed him to a private hospital in Darsi. The doctors at the hospital asked them to take him to Guntur.Kondaiah breathed his last while being shifted to Guntur.
Darsi CI Pratap Kumar said that the police has registered a case against those who thrashed Kondaiah. When asked about the alleged molestation, Kumar said that the police cannot register a case since the accused is now dead.
The police official, however, mentioned that the relatives of the minor victim should have reported the matter to the police instead of taking the law into their hands.

Kochi: Njarakkal police on Saturday seized three kilograms of ganja from four people from Puthuvype near here.
The arrested were identified as Rajesh (29) of Rajakkad, Sreejith (22) of Cheranallore, Sharwin (21) of Puthuvype and Sudheesh (22) of Veliyathanparambu.
According to police, Rajesh was selling ganja to the other three when all of them were held. Rajesh learnt to have bought the substance from Cumbum near Theni district in Tamil Nadu.

Chennai: Personnel of the directorate of vigilance and anti-corruption (DVAC) caught a police inspector red-handed on Saturday while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 from a resident for not initiating action on a complaint that was lodged against him.
Inspector S. Thomson, posted at J.J. Nagar police station, had asked Ramesh to pay Rs 50,000 for silence on a complaint by a woman moneylender of the same area, said the vigilance officers who trapped him.
The arrested inspector was in the news recently after he demanded a probe into the alleged suicide of his 19-year-old daughter in her hostel room in the University of Liverpool in England on July 12.
On Saturday, Thomson asked Ramesh to meet him near his residence at Padi Pudhu Nagar when vigilance officials, clad in civilian clothes, caught him while he was accepting the bribe amount.
Ramesh had borrowed money from Vijaya, a moneylender, and a dispute arose between the two over settlement issues. Vijaya had lodged a complaint against Ramesh on Friday, following which the inspector demanded Rs 50,000 from him for not registering an FIR against him.
Ramesh then approached the DVAC and, on their advice, he agreed to pay Rs 25,000 to Thomson on Saturday. The inspector was booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act by DVAC.
Incidentally, Thomson was arrested by DVAC personnel around the same time in December 2004 for demanding a bribe from hotelier Durairaj of Chengalpet.

Hyderabad: A housewife committed suicide by hanging herself at her house, in Nacharam on Saturday morning. The victim was P. Rajilaxmi, 47, wife of Yadaiah, a resident of Laxmi Nagar, Mallapur village, Nacharam.
According to the police officials in Nacharam, Rajilaxmi attempted suicide in her room. The others, who saw this, immediately rushed her to the Durgabai Deshmusk Hospital, in the city. She died while undergoing treatment. The cops registered a case of suspicious death and are investigating. The body was shifted to Gandhi Hospital.

Bangalore: In a shocking incident, a 28-year-old rowdy, who was recently released from prison, was hacked to death in broad daylight by his rival gang members in Cottonpet police limits on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Jeevan alias Jeevendra, a resident of Old Pension Mohalla (OPM), Mysore Road. PoÂlice said Jeevan was relÂeased from Parappana Agrahara jail on DecÂemÂber 4 and had previously been involved in two cases on Magadi Road and the murder of a man named Guppendra in Old Mysore Road in 2012.
Around 5.20 pm on Saturday afternoon, JeeÂvan was reportedly walking towards Masjid E NoÂorul Huda to meet his associates, when he was waylaid by four men brandishing lethal weapons. Realising that his life was in danger, Jeevan tried to flee.
He ran into a crowded lane near OPM 4th cross, where he is said to have slipped and hit his head on a brick, causing him to suffer severe injuries. His attackers hacked him repeatedly and left him to die in a pool of his blood.
He was struck multiple times in the hands, legs, abdomen, chest, and head, police said. Horrified local residents hurriedly pulled down shutters of their shops, and closed the doors and windows of their houses fearing more violence.
