Preetika is excited to get started
Preetika Rao, who is movie actress Amrita Rao’s sister, is all set to make her television debut with 'Beintehaa' on Colors. The actress, who has done some films down South, says she was always open to TV offers but was looking for an interesting script. She says, “I like the fact that this story is set in a Muslim backdrop at a time when television is dominated by Gujarati and Rajasthani families. I also like the way the story is presented.”
Sharing some of her experiences from the shoot, Preetika says, “We shot in Bhopal and I had to cycle a lot and also do some boating. On the first day of the shoot I had to cycle through the traffic in a tearing hurry and ended up falling since I was cycling after long. But the results make it seem worth the effort.”
The actress says that she has never planned her career. “I have never plotted my next move. I was modelling when I got offered some films in the South. Those films were limited to a regional audience but television has a huge reach. So I’m happy to be here.”
Revealing more about life off screen, Preetika says, “I don’t like to take unnecessary stress. I’m introspective and composed in real life unlike my character in the show, Aliya. I don’t party much and have few friends. My cousins are my closest buddies.”
When asked about her views on love, Preetika smiles and says, “For me it’s difficult to fall in love. It has not happened to me yet. Of course there have been proposals but I have always felt that it would spoil my friendship with the person. You need compatibility and honesty to keep a relationship going.”
The actress admits that getting used to television’s hectic schedule hasn’t been easy. “I’m getting used to the set routine. For the Bhopal schedule, I shot for 24 hours without sleep. Then there are promotional visits and press conferences to attend. It requires a lot of mental preparation.”
