FMSCI election in legal tangle, AGM to go ahead but results only on Jan. 8
Chennai: The term of the current council members ends on Monday, but the court order allows them to discharge their duties until January 8, according to Anand Sashidharan, FMSCI's counsel.
The forthcoming election of the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India is caught in a legal tangle. The 40th annual general meeting scheduled to be held in the city on Monday will go ahead, but the Madras High Court on Friday ordered the motorsport body not to open the sealed envelopes containing the ballot until January 8. As the court goes on Christmas holiday from Saturday, it has sought time till January 8 to analyse FMSCI's vacate petition against the interim injection on the racing body's resolution that allows only non-profit clubs being members of its council. Mumbai based Sportscraft obtained the interim injection.
As status quo will be maintained, Sportscraft can vote as well as contest for the council election on Monday. The eight-member council will then elect its president and vicepresident once the envelopes are opened in front of the judges on January 8.
