Gothika inherited her taste for western music from her dad who used to have a collection of old cassettes piled up at their home in Bangalore. Everyone in her family was into music, so she grew up amidst all kinds of music and songs.
Somewhere along the line, she decided to become a 'DJ'.
“That was in 2009," she says days ahead of her Christmas event in Thiruvananthapuram. “I learnt to DJ, and participated in the 'War of DJs' in 2010. I was the runner up for the show," she says.
She was the first girl finalist in the Kingfisher Ultra Soulflyp DJ Hunt. “That happened across four cities and I was competing with 21 boys," while playing at several events over the years that included an IPL after-match party in Bangalore.
Last year, she was in Kochi as the DJ at a New Year's party and this year she is coming to Thiruvananthapuram on Christmas Day. She will join DJ Karthik for the Christmas bash to be held at Hotel Vivanta by Taj, Vazhuthacaud, Thiruvananthapuram on December 25.
“I plan to do some commercial house music, with a little bit of Bollywood and a little bit of Christmas jingles," she adds.
