Tamil Nadu?must give a Prime Minister: AIADMK

Executive council of AIADMK vows to make Jayalalithaa next Prime Minister.

Chennai: AIADMK on Thursday vowed to make party supremo Jayalalithaa the Prime Minister so as to lead the nation towards internal prosperity and external pride.

“Our Amma is the only trusted polestar capable of guiding India to its bright future. She alone is capable of benevolent care towards all the people in this vast nation, who speak different languages, practise various religions and belong to different races. Our revolutionary leader alone has the administrative capability to make India raise her head in pride and dignity at global level”, said a resolution passed at a huge session of the AIADMK general council and executive committee held at suburban Vanagaram.

Addressing the session, Jayalalithaa made clear that the AIADMK would go it alone in the Lok Sabha election and exhorted followers to stay united and work hard to ensure victory in all the 40 seats, so that the party would be in command at the Centre when the next session of the general council and executive is held.

“Only we will be able to decide the future of India. Our chances are very bright. We are certain of a big victory”, she said to robust cheering from the packed audience.

“Time has come for Tamil Nadu to gift India her Prime Minister”, said the resolution while pointing out that states like UP, Gujarat, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka had produced Prime Ministers.

Jaya is the best to be PM: Party

Chennai: Hailing party supremo and chief minister J. Jayalalithaa as a “multi-faceted” personality qualified to become the prime minister, the AIADMK said she “is an unparalleled patriot”.

A resolution among 16 that were passed at the party’s key decision-making bodies- the general council and executive committee, which met with Jayalalithaa in the chair, at suburban Vanagaram, flayed DMK chief M. Karunanidhi for doing precious little for the state.

“His party had been in power at the Centre many times in the governments of Deve Gowda, I.K. Gujral, A.B. Vajpayee and the Congress-led UPA; yet the state witnessed hardly any development. He amassed wealth and abetted genocide in Sri Lanka. The voters must therefore spurn him when he approaches them for votes,” the resolution said.

Resolutions condemning the Centre for representing India at CHOGM, for not halting the slaying of innocent Tamil Nadu fishermen by Lankan navy and for failing to provide power from Kudankulam reactor, were also passed. Yet another resolution said the AIADMK’s inner elections would be deferred till the Lok Sabha elections.

Resolutions thanking Jayalalithaa for bailing out Neyveli Lignite Corporation when the Central government wanted to sell its stakes, leading the party to a resounding win in the Yercaud bypoll and praying to god to confer good health and prosperity on their leader who will be celebrating her 66th birthday on February 24 were adopted.

“Only Amma could put India on the path of development by addressing issues like economic crisis, corruption, hoarding of black money, inflation and weakening of rupee,” a resolution said.
