Kodiyeri Balakrishnan flays serving of liquor to Finance Commission
Kozhikode: The government has brought disgrace to Kerala by serving liquor to the members of the 14th Finance commission during their visit to Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday, said Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, deputy opposition leader in the state Assembly.
“The state government which had failed in getting the legitimate rights of the state from the central government is hoping to advance the cause by serving liquor. It has only brought down the image of the state,” he said while inaugurating the state conference of the Kerala Government Contractors’ Federation on Thursday.
Kodiyeri blamed mismanagement and inefficiency in all sectors of the government for the financial crisis facing the state.
“The Chief Minister himself had conceded that he is responsible for the anarchy in financial management,” he pointed out.
For the first time in history, the government is unable to pay the salary in advance for Christmas, he said. The government is surviving mainly on selling lottery tickets and liquor, he added.
