Congress men celebrate Lokpal in Karimnagar
Karimnagar: Congress leaders and activists were jubilant following the passage of Lokpal Bill, attributing credit to UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi for their efforts in getting the historic bill passed in Lok Sabha.
Members of Youth Congress, City Congress and NSUI district wing celebrated the passage by distributing sweets to passersby on road at Rajiv Chowk here on Thursday.
Explaining the significance of the Bill, Youth Congress parliamentary constituency unit president J. Nikhil Chakravarthy said the Bill applies to all from chief minister, prime Minister to lower level official. “With the advent of the law, our society will be cleansed of official corruption,” asserted Chakravarthy.
Thanking Rahul Gandhi, he said that the AICC vice-president had strived for the smooth passage of the Bill, aimed at eradicating corruption from the society in the Lok Sabha.
“We express our gratitude to Rahul Gandhi from the bottom of our hearts,” he added.
Members of city Congress committee took part in the celebrations.
Raising slogans hailing Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, the Congress activists danced to the drum beats and burst crackers. Indira Gandhi statue was garlanded as part of the celebrations.
Meanwhile, members of NSUI also distributed sweets to people to mark the occasion.
They also lauded Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
YC Assembly unit president Imran, Jitendar, Manoj, Muttoja, Sudhir, Srinivas, Konda Harish, city Congress leaders Kanna Krishna, G. Jayalakshmi and NSUI leaders Samrat and Sohail and many others took part in the celebrations.
