Turning vegan with a vengeance
Ask Haritha Parokod about her favourite food and she will only be too happy to hold forth on the subject. She is a hardcore foodie and loves to savour food of every kind.
Interestingly, she has turned vegetarian since a year and says, “It may sound dramatic but a friend of mine casually asked me why I was eating animals when I love them so much and after that I just stopped eating non-veg of any kind!"
Instead Haritha concentrates on having veggies in whatever form, be it as salads, in boiled form or as curries. Haritha's mom is a great cook who makes the most amazing dishes, she reveals, “Vegetables were something I used to hate earlier but now I try to have them in whatever form possible. I hate beans and bitter gourd with a vengeance but my mother very sneakily manages to make me eat beans in very innovative culinary ways. Sometimes she even tries Sanjeev Kapoor's recipes!"
Asked about her own culinary skills, Haritha says, “I can make salads with olives and mushrooms and in the past six months I have started cooking. I have made Hyderabadi biriyani which came out very well and thank God there have been no disasters in the kitchen."
Adding, “How can there be when I have a video of Sanjeev Kapoor giving me step-by-step instructions? I also made pal payasam recently."
Being in the business of acting, Haritha has had to make allowances for a healthy lifestyle and she has cut down on spicy food. “I love sweets but too much of sweets plays havoc on the skin and so I avoid that too. I prefer eating whole bread, fat free foods and avoid junk food and sweets," she says.
Instead of going to the gym, Haritha keeps herself fit by practicing yoga.
