New Delhi: Third seed Sanil Shetty crushed Sourav Saha 4-0 in the summit clash of the men's singles while Manika Batra registered a grand double by winning the women's singles event at the Vatika North Zone National Ranking Table Tennis Championships at the Hansraj Model School hall here today.
City girl Manika, seeded 13, Batra forged a fine comeback to stun fifth-seed Ankita Das 4-3. Manika had earlier defeated Suthirtha Mukherjee 4-1 to bag the youth girls title. She carried home a prize purse of Rs 75,000 from both the triumphs.
Meanwhile, Sanil was as usual in his attacking self and, despite trailing early, quickly made up to close out on Saha.
Sanil maintained his attacking posture throughout and sent down several forehand winners.
The Mumbai lad just took less than 25 minutes to complete the rout. The title triumph made Sanil richer by Rs 66,000.
