Now, an all-women siege of Cliff House
Thiruvananthapuram: The CPM, which is wilting under the attack of Sandhya, who single-handedly took on the LDF for blocking the way to her house near the Cliff House, has decided to make a mid-course correction in its stir by rallying housewives in hundreds.
The LDF district committee has decided to organise a siege of Cliff House by homemakers on December 19. “Not one, but hundreds of homemakers will join the protest against chief minister Oommen Chandy and price rise,”' CPM district secretary Kadkampally Surendran told mediapersons here on Tuesday.
CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan, who was away in Agartala attending the party central committee meeting during the Sandhya episode, will inaugurate the all-women protest outside Cliff House.
Even though the LDF had decided to continue the protest for 140 days by getting workers from all Assembly constituencies, the agitation lost steam right in the beginning.
While LDF workers have been squatting on the road outside Cliff House since December 9, Chandy whom they were trying to block, went about doing his work without any hindrance. This led to criticism about the mode of stir with parties like the CPI speaking about the futility of the agitation. But what came as a shocker was homemaker Sandhya's outburst against LDF leaders in full public view for blocking the way to her house.
