No decision yet on CET issue: Siddaramaiah
Bangalore: Dismissing the rumors that the state government was all set to give up government seats in the private professional colleges, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said the government was yet to take a decision in this regard.
The issue of seat matrix for admission to professional colleges and fee fixations are being examined by two different judges. “Unless they give us their recommendations, we can not take a decision on these issues,” he said.
Dismissing the ongoing discussions that the government would give up its share of seats in the private professional colleges and allow them to fix their own fee, Siddaramaiah said that they were mere ‘hypothetical speculations’.
“The government had brought in an Act, which was not implemented. Since then, the seat sharing was based on understanding between the government and the private professional colleges, which was arbitrary. Now, we have issued a government order to enact the Act.
“To determine the seat sharing and fee fixation, we have asked two retired High Court judges and recommend the government with that regard. So far, the Retired Judges have not given us the recommendation,” he said.
When asked whether the government would give up its share of seats in private professional colleges, Siddaramaiah answered negatively. “We will have our share of seats. How much and what would be the fee structure would be decided based on recommendation by the retired judges,” he added.
