Shop on Xmas eve, win prizes!
Thiruvananthapuram: Food and civil supplies minister Anoop Jacob has said that the state government would observe 5.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. on December 24 as consumer hour as part of this year’s consumer day programme.
Jacob told reporters here on Tuesday that all Supplyco outlets in the state would conduct lucky dips for consumers who purchase provisions from the shop during the hour. The prizes would be distributed to the winners on the spot.
The government would identify three ration shops in each taluk and honour the seniormost customer of the shop with a ponnada, he said.
The government has approached the centre for funds for introducing more consumer clubs in schools in the state. The present plan is to start 100 schools across the state by ensuring sufficient number of such clubs in each district.
The schools which start consumer clubs would be provided with Rs 10,000 each. The aim of establishing such clubs is to conduct consumer awareness programmes, Jacob said.
