T-Bill copies set afire
Visakhapatnam: Expressing anguish over tabling of the Telangana statehood bill in the state Assembly on Monday morning, despite strong opposition by Seemandhra MLAs, leaders and activists of Telugu Desam (TD) and YSR Congress (YSRC) and other organisations tore and burnt the copies of the bill at various places in the city and wondered how the state could be divided with many of the issues remaining unresolved.
Leaders and activists of the YSR Congress shouted slogans against AICC president Sonia Gandhi, in-charge of party affairs for Andhra Pradesh Digvijay Singh and few other separatist forces for pushing the state into crisis.
They also burnt Digvijay Singh in effigy at the Telugu Talli statue near Maddilapalem area in the morning. Cadres of the Telugu Desam also burnt Sonia Gandhi and few other senior leaders of the Congress in effigy at Gajuawaka, Maddilapalem and other places. Division will only usher in more trouble to Seemandhra and Telangana, they said.
Meanwhile, security has been beefed up at Andhra University, Siripuram, Maddilapalem, Gajuwaka, at the residences of political leaders and other strategic places in the city apprehending untoward incidents. Police said there were no reports of any untoward incident so far and that they were monitoring all the places.
