Lawyers burn copies of T-Bill

Expressing concern over the way the AP State Reorganisation Bill-2013 was introduced.

Rajahmundry: Expressing concern over the way the AP State Reorganisation Bill-2013 was introduced in the Assembly when the people were observing the death anniversary of Potti Sriramulu, Seemandhra lawyers described the act as undemocratic and burnt the copies of the draft bill in front of the district court complex here on Monday.

Several lawyers who have been abstaining from court work ever since the Centre made an announcement to bifurcate the state, gathered in front of the court complex and burnt the copies of the draft bill.

Speaking on the occasion, Seemandhra lawyers Joint Aation Committee co-convenor Muppala Subba Rao said that the draft bill was unscientific and no issue was dealt with in detail in the post-bifurcation scenario.

He called upon the Union ministers and MPs from Seemandhra region to cut above their party politics and extend their support to the no-trust move initiated against the Congress-led UPA government in Parliament to dislodge the government.

He said that the lawyers would lay siege to the Assembly the moment a thorough debate takes place in the House on the T-bill and vowed to initiate legal process to stall the move and keep the state united. Subba Rao said that their agitation would continue till the process of bifurcation is stopped.
