Jail officials told not to misuse official powers

Karimnagar: District Superintendent of Police P.V. Shiva Kumar advised officials of jails in Adilabad and Nizamabad and Karimnagar not to misuse powers vested in them while discharging duties.

Speaking at the Retreat-2013, held on the premises of the district jail here on Monday, he said Retreat is being organised every year to review, introspect and identify new methodologies for better administration of jails since 2001.

One of the prime goals of the programme is to prepare each prisoner for their return to the society as a reformed and responsible citizen, he added.

He said that the Retreat’s objective was to share the past experiences with fellow officials and improve the quality of service in jails. He assured that the problems raised by the officials would be addressed.

Dr K. Murali, principal of Sri Raja Rajeshwari Degree College, stressed on the need to carry out reformations in oneself. He opined that the well-educated people would act as shock observers in a society.

Karimnagar Jail medical officer Dr Moinuddin, jailers Somiah, Srinu Naik and Ravi Babu, psychology counselor Mahendar deputy jailer Sudhakar Reddy and Ramesh, staff of the jail including authorities of prisons in Adilabad and Nizamabad were present on the occasion.
