53K kg of flowers from Kerala, Tamil Nadu exported.

Kochi: The Cochin International Airport Perishable Centre (CPC), a unique facility in South India, has successfully handled a floral consignment of about 53,000 kg, that will find its way to Doha to decorate the Qatari capital on the occasion of Qatar National Day, to be celebrated on Wednesday. The single consignment of fresh flowers was exported to Doha on Monday by a special Etihad freighter from the airport.

The shipment of 10,000 packets of flowers from Kerala and Tamil Nadu was exported by the Chennai-based K.H. International Services to Doha. The consignment came from different locations of Kerala and Tamil Nadu in 19 reefer trucks. It consisted of special jasmine, lilium, poliathes, and tuberose with a total declared value of Rs 1 cr.

“The perishable centre at CIAL which can handle highly perishable products is the key selling point where such businesses are brought to Kochi. The centre can handle temperature-sensitive products like fresh vegetables, fruits, flowers, marine and pharma items etc. Highly perishable goods are brought to the centre in reefer trucks so as to maintain the freshness and quality of the produce,” said a CIAL official.
