Remembering Dec. 16
If you found a box with a peephole, would you look inside? It’s that thin line between curiosity and voyeurism that Sravanthi Juluri questions with the installation at her Braveheart tribute show titled ‘Awakening the Shakti’.
In a way the show also tells the city artist’s coming-of-age tale after her much-talked about debut last year, which was inspired by her personal experiences in a troubled marriage.
While there are glimpses of her old collection, Sravanthi’s latest works are captivating in the way that the raw expressions of pain have evolved into mature diction with vibrant abstracts.
Her characteristic elements continue, with the red dot symbolising the Indian woman’s bindi, and the much-needed wake up call for women to tackle issues of abuse, exploitation and subjugation at various levels.
