Kochi: Nirmala College Muvattupuzha defeated St Xavier's Thumba 2-0 to storm into the final of the South Leg of Goal 2014 inter-collegiate football tournament in Thiruvalla on Sunday .
Anil Kumar's vicious effort from long range in the first half and Hanulal's goal in the 48th minute that was worked between Abhishek and Jibin Thomas in a counter sealed the victory for Nirmala College Muvattupuzha.
In another match, University College Thiruvananthapuram drubbed Baselios College Kottayam 3-1 to reach the semifinals of the South Leg of the tournament.
The University boys scored all three goals inside the first 35 minutes as the MG University champions' defense was at sixes and sevens.
Vishnu T. grabbed a brace and Muhammed Aneesh scored another while Sarath pulled one back in the 53rd minute.
