Christmas spl to run from Nellai to Mumbai

In an effort to clear rush during Christmas, Cen­tral railway will run a weekly special train.

Chennai: In an effort to clear rush during Christmas, Cen­tral railway will run a weekly special train bet­ween Mumbai and Tir­unelveli from next week. The train will be leave Ch­ha­trarapati Shivaji Ter­mi­nus, Mumbai (01067), on December 21 and Tir­u­n­­elveli, (01068) on December 22.

The express train will leave Tirunelveli at 1.30 pm on Sundays to reach Mumbai on Tuesday 11.00 pm. Similarly, it will leave Mumbai CST on Sat­ur­days at 12.20 am and reach Ti­runelveli on Sunday 11.15 a.m. The weekly tra­in will be operated up to the first week of Jan­uary 2014.

The super fast train, which leaves Tirunvelveli station on Sundays, will pass through Valliyur, Na­g­ercoil Town, Era­niyel, Ku­lithurai, Thir­uv­a­­­nan­th­a­puram, Koll­am, Kot­ta­yam, Ernakulam To­wn, Kozhikode, Thala­sse­ry, Ka­n­nur, Kasargad, Ma­ng­aglore, Udipi, Mad­g­aon, Ratnagiri, Thane, Dadar and reach Mumbai CST.

The train will have one first AC, AC two tier and two AC three tier compar­tments, 12 second class sl­e­e­per coaches and six un­­re­served compartme­nts. Secretary, Kanyakumari di­strict railway users' as­sociation, P. Edward Jeni, said the service will be beneficial to people in Madurai, Nagercoil and Tirunelveli. However, he has requested to operate the train as a regular train.
