The A-listers, Anushka Shetty, Nayanthara, Tamanna, Samantha, Shruti Haasan and Taapsee, all have their hands full with projects and filmmakers are now opting for actresses like Regina Cassandra, Amala Paul, Pranitha, Rakul Preet Singh, Rashi Khanna and Lawanya Tripathi.
In spite of these starlets not being experienced with only two to three films in their kitty, they are busy with multiple projects even before their films have released.
Regina Cassandra’s two films, 'Shankara' and 'Kotha Janta', are ready for release and she is doing two more films. The actress is being approached for more work. “Yes, in the industry the ‘name’ is very important. If a new girl is doing a film opposite a big actor, everybody will take notice. Ditto, if the actress is backed by a big banner, actor or director,” says Regina. She feels blessed that though not many of her films have released, she has bagged two films under the Geetha Arts banner owned by Allu Aravind.
Pranitha, who played the second lead in the Pawan Kalyan-starrer 'Atharintiki Daredi', became popular with the success of the film. The actress is now doing a film opposite Jr NTR and another film, 'Pandavulu Pandavulu Thummeda', which stars the Manchu family. “I am also busy with Kannada projects. Once I complete my existing films I will go for new projects,” she says.
Rakul Preet Singh, who tasted success with 'Venkatadri Express', is also in demand, but she is cautious. The actress believes in her looks and performance and knows that with a little hard work, she will top the list. “Right now I am doing my Hindi film promotions. I am getting offers in Telugu, but I want to go for the right film,” says Rakul, who is waiting for an offer opposite a big actor .
'Madras Café' girl Rashi Khanna is also in demand. Before the first release, the actress had already signed a Telugu film. She is also considering many projects.
Amala Paul, meanwhile, is presently doing a film opposite Nani. The actress, however, is charging quite high, says a source.
Actress Catherine, who became popular with 'Iddarammayi-latho' opposite Bunny, is also in demand. Her film 'Paisa' opposite Nani and directed by Krishna Vamsi is yet to release.
