Chennai: The 30-year-old wife of a software engineer was found dead with stab wounds in her chest in her first floor apartment near Selaiyur Saturday morning. The police suspects the woman Pooja, married to Rohan Shankar, 35, may have used the kitchen knife to kill herself as there was no sign of forced entry.
She was discovered lying in a pool of blood by her seven-year-old daughter, a class II student of a private school, at around6.30 am in the apartment at Tellus Avenue, Rajakilpakkam. Her husband, Rohan has been working in Dubai for the last two years, according to the police.

Chennai: A 30-year-old woman, wife of a software engineer, was found dead in her first floor apartment near Selaiyur with stab wounds on her chest on Saturday morning.
Pooja, 30, was married to Rohan Shankar, 35, a JhaÂrkÂhÂand native, who works wiÂth a software firm in ChÂenÂnÂai and lives at Tellus AveÂnue, Rajakilpakkam, near SelaiÂyur, the police said. The couple have a seven-year-old daughter who studies class 2 at a private school in the same area.
Rohan had been working in Dubai for the past two years and had recently come home on a two-month vacation, after which he left for Dubai again last month, police investigations revealed. The murder came to light after the daughter, who around 6.30 am on Saturday found her mother lying in a pool of blood. She went crying to her neighbours, the police said.
Police sources said that the woman was found with stab wounds on her left chest, which had killed her instantly. The kitchen knife which had been used was also recovered. However, the Selaiyur police maintained that the incident was not a murder but that the woman could have stabbed herself to death.
“The house was locked from inside, which was furthermore confirmed as the daughter showed us how she came out of the house. So, we don’t suspect any entry into the house and there is no sign of discrepancies to suspect murder for gain either. Only after further investigations, we can come to a conclusion,” said an official.
Police sources privy to the investigation said the woman’s mobile phone records have shown frequent private conversations with another person and they are also investigating that angle.
