Balachander wants pic with Aamir Khan
Chennai: Aamir Khan, who was here in the city in connection with the Chennai International Film Festival, called upon ace filmmaker, Dadasaheb Phalke awardee and doyen of Tamil film industry K. Balachander at his residence.
The director, fondly addressed as KB, who discovered hundreds of talent, including Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth, received Bollywood star and social activist Aamir, and wished him all success for his upcoming flick Dhoom 3, the third installment of the Dhoom series.
KB also congratulated the Lagaan star for his popular TV talk show Satyameva Jayate which deals with highly sensitive issues.
A few years back, Aamir and KB shared the dais for the Gollapudi awards ceremony in Chennai. Recalling what Balachander spoke on that occasion about how he was moved by his film Taare Zamin Par, Aamir said, “Your speech was so inspiring that I took the recorded version of it in a video and keep showing it to my friends and family.”
When the entire crowd gave a standing ovation at KB's oration, Aamir broke into tears on the dais. Aamir’s movie won the Gollapudi Srinivas award that year.
In a lighter vein, Balachander said, “I want to take a picture with you and show it to my son as they are great fans of yours and wouldn’t believe it if I said you came home to meet me.” The meeting lasted 30 minutes.
