Minor boy attempts to molest 7-yr-old girl, nabbed by police
Nellore: A 17-year-old boy was detained for attempting to molest a seven-year-old girl at Venkateswarapuram located on the outskirts of the city on Friday night. According to trainee SI of Nellore rural police station A. Suresh Kumar, the minor boy is in the habit of sniffing whitener for an instant high.
He called the girl playing alone near her house by offering some sweets and took her to an isolated house. A friend of the family alerted the parents of the girl when she noticed the boy taking the girl into the isolated house.
Timely arrival of her mother and sister saved the girl from the boy who was under the influence of whitener. The minor girl told police that the boy had blindfolded her after taking into the house and she raised an alarm when she found him touching her in an inappropriate manner.
Suresh Kumar said that they have registered complaints under Prevention of Children from Sexual Offe-nces Act and rule-2012, Secti-on VIII and also under section 364 A (Clause II) of IPC and added that the boy will be produced in the juvenile court since he is a minor.
Harassed for dowry, woman ‘kills’ herself
Bangalore: A young 23-year-old houÂseÂwife, who was constantly subjected to dowry harassment hanÂÂged herself at her residence in HAL police limits on Saturday moÂrning. The deceased, Kavya Muniraju, was a natÂive of GanigarÂapÂalya, KanaÂkÂapura. KaÂvÂya was married to MaÂhesh Babu (27), a coolie, for over two years. The couple lived with MahÂesh’s parents in KariÂmana AgraÂhara.
Kavya’s family has alleÂged that her husband and in-laws haraÂssed her regularly for dowry. “At the time of marriage, Kavya’s parents had given Mahesh and his family Rs 1 lakh in cash and 130 grams of gold ornaments. RecÂently, they gave anoÂther Rs 50,000 cash to MahÂesh on his birthday. But Mahesh and his parents continued to harass Kavya for more dowÂry,” the poÂlice said.Kavya allegedly hanÂged herself from the ceiling fan in her room with a dupatta.
The incident came to light at around 6am when her husband and in-laws woke up to find her body hanging and informed the police.
Kavya’s parents were called and they rusÂhed with nearly 150-200 relatives. Kavya’s family suspects that she was beaten to deÂath by Mahesh and his parents and then hanÂged from the fan to make it look like she a suicide.
The body was taken to Bowring Hospital for postmortem and was latÂer taken to GaÂniÂgÂarÂapalya for the last rites. The police have registered a case under SeÂctions 302 (murder) and 304B (dowry death).

Belgaum: A school teacher from Khanapur taluk was thrashed by villagers on Friday evening for allegedly misbehaving with the school’s female students.
The teacher, S.B. Sutagatti from MarÂathi Senior Primary School from Londa, was later handed over to the police. Tension prevailed on the school premises when a large number of villagers gathered to attack the teacher, alleging that he was a sexual assaulter.
The villagers wanted higher officials from the education department to visit the campus immediately and take action against the teacÂher. They withdrew their demand after an assurance from the depÂartment that an inquiry against the teacher would be conducted after visiting the campus.
The villagers urged the police to register a case and initiate stringent action against him. Sutagatti is said to be employed with Londa Urdu School, but was deputed to Londa Marathi School over the last few days.
EducaÂtion DepÂartment coordinator R.K. AnjaÂneya visited the school late on Friday and conducted an inquiry. The findings revealed that the school headmistress had warned Sutagatti for misbehaving with students. The co-ordinator will soon submit a report on the incident to the higher-ups in the Education Department, sources said.
Sex racket busted at Vizag
Visakhapatnam: City Task Force sleuths busted a high-profile sex racket at a lodge near Daba Gardens and in a flat near Muralinagar area in the city late on Friday night.
Cops arrested two per sons, including the kingpin of the ring, and a customer. The brothel owner worked at a Hyderabad brothel earlier and used to bring girls from Hyderabad on contract basis.
They seized Rs 5,000 and two mobile phones as well.
?Yoga trainer jumps to death
Hyderabad: M. Ramanjaneyulu, a 48year-old yoga trainer at the Nature Cure Hospital, Ghatkesar, committed suicide because he had a chronic scleroderma condition. He leaped from the third floor of the hospital building.
According to C. Venkataiah, the Ghatkesar SI, Ramanjaneyulu was suffering from scleroderma, a tissue disorder, for the past many years. He had joined the hospital about five years ago. “After joining the hospital, he started taking treatment for the disorder and was leading a normal life.
As he is holds a degree in nature cure, he started teaching yoga to other patients at the hospital. He was allotted a room on the second floor of the hospital building,“ Venkataiah.
However, about 10 days ago, Ramanujaneyulu noticed the recurrence of the disease. Depressed, he committed suicide at 2 am.

Hyderabad: The Central Crime Station police on Saturday took the help of forensic experts to verify the allegations made by actor Udaya Bhanu that her morphed pictures were used for the promotion of the film Madhumati.
CCS deputy commissioner of police P. Raju said Udaya had downloaded images from websites and had submitted them to prove that her photographs were morphed. “We have sent them to APFSL to verify if they are really morphed. The fate of the case will be decided based on the findings,“ he said.
Meanwhile, the speculation that Udaya's morphed pictures or footages were used in the film as well, turned out to be false.
“We watched the movie preview along with the actress and made sure that no such scenes was included. Earlier, she was not allowed to watch the movie by producers,“ added the DCP.

Hyderabad: West Zone police raided Over The Moon pub at Daspalla on Friday midnight and booked a case against the management for functioning after the time limit.
This is the second time the police has raided the pub and has booked cases against the management in the last three months.
Following a tip-off, a special team led by the West Zone DCP, Satyanarayana, entered the pub after 12 midnight, and found that the party was still on.
“Our team reached Over The Moon at 12.10 am, and found the pub functioning. Alcohol was being served and the music was on too.
Since the pub has violated the rules, we booked a case against the management,“ Satynarayana said.
Police arrested Akshay Naik, the manager, Shirojit, and another staff member of the pub.

Nellore: Unidentified miscreants relieved Rs 58,000 cash, besides cell phones and motorcycle of two persons at knife point in Allur on Saturday.
According to Allur SI Vijayakumar, the victims identified as Sampath and Sardar have outlets selling cell phones in Atmakur. Two persons posing as sales executives came to Atmakur a couple of days ago and offered them cell phones for less than wholesale price. The duo walked into the trap when they invited them to Allur to select the models.
Seven persons rounded Sampath and Sardar and forced them to part with Rs 58,000 and the motorcycle from their possessi-on.

Vijayawada:?A 20-year-old married woman was found hanging from the ceiling fan in her residence on Saturday morning by her neighbours. Police registered a case of suspicious death and took the victim’s husband into custody for questioning.
According to S-I A. Durga Prasad, Jaani Begum married Sk. Rasool about 18 months. The couple was blessed with a 4-month-old baby.
Following the discovery of Jaani Begum’s body, her brother and parents lodged a complaint with the police against Sk. Rasool. They said in the complaint that Sk. Rasool might have killed Jaani Begum and was trying to pass it off as suicide. They alleged that he was a drunkard who had been harassing his wife since many months.
Kankchikacharla tahsildar Victor Babu visited the scene. The body was sent to Nandigama hospital. Sk. Rasool is being questioned.

Visakhapatnam: City task force (CTF) police busted a high-profile sex racket being operated from a lodge near Daba Gardens and a flat in a group house near Muralinagar area in the city late on Friday night.
Cops arrested two persons, including kingpin of the racket and a customer, seized Rs 5,000 cash and two mobile phones from the organiser.
Inspector of police, CTF, Ch. Tirupati Rao said that J. Balaji of Rajahmundry in East Godavari started a brothel house at Muralinagar area and has been running it for the past seven months for easy money.
Balaji, who had worked at a brothel house in Hyderabad few years ago, brought good looking girls from Hyderabad to Vizag, on contract basis.
On a tip off, Rao and his team raided a private lodge near Daba Gardens area on Friday night and after confirming that illegal activity was going on at the lodge, police arrested a customer, V. Rajesh, and rescued a girl.
Based on information from Rajesh and the girl, police also raided a flat in a group house near Muralinagar, and arrested Balaji and rescued another girl.
Police said Balaji contacted some customers on mobile phone for his illegal business. Rao said the arrested were handed over to II Town police in the city and that a case was registered under Immoral Traffic Prevention Act 1956.

Chennai: Conmen posing as police personnel cheated a retired fire officer’s wife of her 10 sovereign gold chain after replacing it with sand and stones in a piece of paper, near Thoraipakkam on Friday.
Rajammal, 58, was intercepted by one of the men while she was returning after buying vegetables in Mettu Kuppam, near Thuraipakkam, the police said. The man introduced himself as a policeman and advised her to not wear gold jewellery while walking in the area as it was prone to chain-snatching incidents.
Though initially the woman had resisted giving her gold jewellery, packed in a piece of paper, as she had read reports in dailies about similar incidents, she gave in after they threatened her to pay Rs 2,000 as fine if she disobeyed them, police investigations revealed.
To make things believable, another man in a bike, who was also part of their gang, was stopped and they made him remove his gold chain and wrapped it in a paper and gave it back to him, the police said. Rajammal realised that she was conned only after she went home and openÂed the paper packet.
BaÂsÂed on Rajammal’s complaÂiÂnt, the Thoraipakkam poÂlice have registered a case and are investigating.

Bangalore: Ramesh Chandra, an aeronautical engineer, who worked as a lecturer in a city based college has accused the college’s director and three others for beating him up when he demanded his salary that was not given to him for the past four months.
He had also asked the college to return his original marks cards which he had submitted to the college at the time of his appointment.
The engineer, a native of Hindupur in Andhra Pradesh was a lecturer in Skanda AviaÂtion College in NelaÂmangala. On Friday, he went to the college principal, Neeraja SudÂaÂrshan, seeking to clear his pending salary. The principal reportedly refused to clear his salary citing some reasons and later informed the matter to her husband Sudarshan, the director of the same college.
Sudarshan asked Chandra to meet him and allegedly locked the lecturer inside a room and thrashed him with a computer laptop wire, the police said.
In his statement to the police the victim claimed that he was gagged and tied with a wire and beaten by the Director and three others. Later, the harassed lecturer left for Hindupur, the police said.
Chandra’s father Rajesh brought him back to the city and filed a complaint with the Nelamangala rural police against the director and three others.“I wanted my son to apply for jobs in the railway depaÂrtment and the maÂrks cards were reqÂuired. He just asked for his pending salary and his marks cards, but my son was tortured instead,” RaÂjesh told the police.
The victim, who graduated in aeronautical engineering from a private college near Yelahanka started working as the lecturer at the private college in Nelamangala after graduation.
We have summoned the suspects for their version, before taking any action, the Nelamangala rural police said.

Bangalore: In what can only be described as a brazen murder for gain, a 62-year-old woman was found brutally murdered with stab wounds in her abdomen and her head smashed with a blunt object in Jayanagar 3rd block, Siddapura police limits on Saturday evening.
The deceased is Pushpa Natarajan, wife of V.K Natarajan. The couple has three daughters and one son, Senthil Kumar. The family hails from Salem in Tamil Nadu, said police.
Pushpa and her husband had been living with Senthil Kumar, his wife Geethalakshmi, and their four-year-old son in a rented house on Byrasandra main road for six years. Natarajan and Senthil are the proprietors of a tyre outlet in Bommasandra, police said.
The murder may have occurred between 3 pm and 4.30 pm, when GeethaÂlakshmi and her son were asleep in the next room. Pushpa reportedly had a visitor because police found a steel plate and tumbler on the table.
Deputy commissioner of police (South) H S Revanna said the murder was likely to be the handiwork of someone the victim knew. "The grill door is intact, and there are no signs of forced entry.
The incident came to light around 4.30 pm when the victim's maid Saroja came to the house. Finding the front door ajar, she walked in to find Pushpa lying in a pool of blood. Saroja rushed out, stopped some passersby and asked them to call for help," he explained.
Natarajan had reportedly come home for lunch and returned to work. Senthil was also out, Geethalakshmi and her son said there was no sign of commotion or struggle. Additional commissioner of police (law and order) Kamal Pant also visited the spot. A sniffer dog squad was brought in to help find clues.
Siddapura police are trying to ascertain if any of the neighbouring houses or buildings are fitted with CCTV cameras that could have caught the killer moving in and out of the house. A case has been registered and a detailed probe is on.

Kochi: A 26-year-old man from Assam was arrested for trying to sell fake gold plates at a shop in Varapuzha on the outskirts of the city on Saturday.
The arrested man was identified as Usman Hussain Ali, a native of Amaragandha in the state.Ali approached a fruit wholesale dealer at Shappupady Junction in Varapuzha and said he wanted to sell a gold plate that he claimed to weigh 1 kg and worth over Rs 20 lakh.
The suspicious shop owner then secretly informed other shop owners who came rushing to the shop. Seeing the other people approaching, the accused snatched the “gold plate” from the shopkeeper and tried to flee.
However, the group chased and nabbed him before handing him over to the Varapuzha police.It was later proved that the ‘gold plate’ was fake and it was originally made of copper.

Hyderabad: Scamsters are adopting a new modus operandi of cheating wherein they offer touring jobs to Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Malaysia etc.and fraud those who fall in their trap.
They give advertisements in newspapers and on the internet and offer part-time jobs as international marketing executives that involve touring countries to purchase electronic goods and deliver them back.
One of the victims of the scam, H.K. Agarwal of Bakaram in Musheerabad, said, “A woman named Shilpa spoke to me when I called up on the number provided in the advertisement.
She offered a service charge of Rs 50,000 to Rs 80,000 per trip along with tickets, accommodation and food. She asked me to deposit an amount of Rs 4,000 as registration fees and gave an account number of the SBI in Ashok Nagar. “I deposited the amount in the name of Sanjay Sharma.
Later another woman claiming to be Sonia Kapoor, the HR manager, called me and asked me to deposit another Rs 15,000 for seat reservation which she claimed would be refunded. I deposited the amount in Punjab National Bank in Musheerabad in the name of Vikram Gupta.“
The accused had sent a letter to Agarwal in the name of Goodwill Travels Private Limited based in Gurgaon.
He added, “Since I deposited the amount I am trying to contact them on both the mobile phones but there is no response. On one mobile they disconnected hearing my name. They cheated me and other innocent people.“ Another victim, Nandivada Muniswamy, was also cheated by the same group.
CID Cyber Crime SP U. Ram Mohan said, “Job frauds are on the rise. The gullible public are falling in this trap. Apart from newspapers, they are giving advertisements online. Nigerians are involved in this fraud. They are employing Indian girls. They are using local Indian account holders as money mules. Complaints can be filed with the local police.“
