Be in vogue this party season
With the party season around the corner, it is very important to have the right wardrobe. And for that we need to know what's in and what's out. Here's what the experts say:
FOR WOMEN
“Jewelled tones are in, one could go for cocktail dresses in colours like steel, matt gold, midnight blue and fuchsia. Even a splash of neon works perfectly," says designer Nachiket Barve, adding, “Since it's winter, one could layer up and wear a shift dress with opaque tights, a cropped jacket and boots."
According to designer Pria Kataria Puri, for women on the heavier side, free-flowing outfits work best, “Those on the heavier side could go for free-flowing kaftans or maxi dresses in colours like black and red."
“Older women who don't want to wear dresses, can go for spunky element shaded saris with bright and beautiful borders," adds Nachiket.
Designer Sounia Gohil feels that a retro look is also an option. “The 60's look is really in wherein one could wear high-neck dresses, may be deepbacked, and the outfit could be either full or mid length."
Nachiket adds that when it comes to accessorising, less is always more, “A clutch is a practical option to go with any dress."
FOR MEN
Men's wear designer Kunal Rawal gives a few pointers that can't go wrong. “For semi-formal gatherings, men can wear a pair of unwashed coloured jeans and team it with a printed shirt and blazers, in bright colours like cobalt blue, maroon, aubergine and burgundy."
SLIGHTLY BULKY?
“People who might want to hide a slight paunch can add a second layer, be it a vest or a t-shirt. They should opt for thinner and more flowing fabrics which will make their silhouette look narrower."
SHOES AND ACCESSORIES:
Designer Nachiket says that dark denims with a crisp linen shirt and woven leather belt can't go wrong. However, pointy shoes must be strictly avoided.
Kunal says when it comes to shoes, “sneakers, semi-formal brogues, monk straps and oxfords work best."
