A holidaying Hrithik Roshan (currently, in Los Angeles) left Bollywood and his fans stunned when he released an official “she left me" note to the media on Friday night.
For many, however, the split was long coming. Sussanne has moved out of the Roshans' Mumbai home numerous times in the past (she once blamed termites). Allegations of Hrithik's “cheating" and the wife's rumoured, romantic link with Arjun Rampal instantly hit headlines soon after news of the divorce broke. And the reports even surprised members of the family.
Hrithik Roshan's maternal grandfather, the famous producer / director J. Om Prakash, says that he came to know about his grandson splitting with his wife Sussanne from the media. “It is totally a personal matter. We are a good loving family and Hrithik has been very close to me. But he has never shared with us any differences that he and Sussanne might have had. I have never interfered in their lives nor have Rakesh and his wife interfered. They are two grown up individuals."
"I came to know about this development through the media. Undoubtedly they must have had major differences of opinion as they have been married for 13 long years and have little children. Both Sussanne and Hrithik are doing professionally well and they do not have any financial crunch," said Om Prakash.
The 92-year-old went on: “They must have tried to make the relationship work and then decided that this was best for them. I can also say that Hrithik will now focus more on his profession and career. Ek bojh ab halka ho gaya hoga."
“Hrithik is currently in America and he is fit and fine. He has gone for a normal check-up," adds the superstar's grandfather.
About the media reactions to the news of his grandson splitting with his wife, he adds, “What can we say... With the freedom of expression, anyone can write anything. But all I can say is that before writing anything we need to be sure of our sources and let the couple be free to follow their hearts and enjoy their lives the way they want."
Sussanne has since released her own statement. “We are two individuals who respect and care for each other and have made our own individual choices. We are parents to two wonderful kids and our responsibility remains to protect and take care of them. Nothing can change that," said Sussanne.
