8,500 cops to be recruited
Bangalore: Home Minister K.J. George on Friday said that the state government has given momentum to the process of recruiting 8,500 policemen, in which 20 per cent of the posts will be reserved for women.
Speaking at the passing out parade of armed constables, who underwent training at Armed Police Training School at YelahÂÂanka on ThuÂrsday, he said, “We have chaÂlked out plans to have reservations for candidates from tribal communities in the recrÂuÂitÂments. We are commÂitted to building a strÂong police force in the state and the government is worÂking towÂards that.”
The government is contemplating to set up six new police training schools in Bangalore, Mysore, Hubli-DhaÂrwÂad, Chitradurga and Kadur in Chikmagalur. “The aim is to improve the quality of training for the policemen. A decision will be taken soon,” he said.
IGP (Training) K.S.R. Charan Reddy said that 455 armed police constables had undergone traiÂning at the school. “This is the 28th batch passing out from the school. They will be deputed to 12 armed police units across the state,” he said. DG&IGP Lalrokhuma PachÂuau, School PrincÂipal Rajashekhar and others were present.
