Suspecting infidelity man hammers nail into wife's head
New Delhi: In a barbaric incident, a man hammered a five inch nail into the forehead of his wife, whom he suspected of infidelity, and left her bleeding for the whole night with their three hapless children, before the neighbour's came to their rescue in the morning.
Mamta (27) has slipped into coma after the attack while her husband Pappu was arrested yesterday following the incident in South-East Delhi's Sangam Vihar area. The incident took place late Thursday night when Mamta and Pappu were in their room while their three children were sleeping in an adjacent room in their G block residence. "Pappu had been suspecting that Mamta was cheating on him.
On Thursday night they had an argument over the issue which soon tuned ugly. In a fit of rage, Pappu tied her hands and legs and gagged her with cloths. "He then brought a five inch long nail from outside and hammered it on her forehead.
After half of the nail went in, he locked the house from outside and fled from the spot," said a police official. It was the children who saw the mother lying in a pool of blood and untied her. They kept crying lying next to her all night.
It was only in the morning that the landlord heard the children crying and the woman was rushed to a hospital where her condition is stated to be critical. Pappu who hails from Etah in Uttar Pradesh was arrested yesterday by the police. A case of attempt to murder has been registered against him.

Mumbai woman killed in human sacrifice ritual, six arrested
Thane: On the day Maharashtra legislature passed the much-awaited anti-superstition bill, Thane district police arrested six men for murdering a 50-year-old woman in a ritual human sacrifice.
District Superintendent of Police Anil Kumbhare today said the accused were arrested last night. The victim, whose headless body was found last month, has been identified as Kalawati Ramasrey Gupta, a resident of Santacruz in Mumbai.
According to police, Kalawati's son, who lived in Uttar Pradesh, kept unwell, and somebody advised her to meet Sarvajit Ramdeo Kahar (57), a godman. Ramdhani Kripashankar Yadav (33), who lived in the same area, took her to Kahar's house in the Airport colony in Santacruz in his autorickshaw on a few occasions. Yadav's wife too kept unwell, while his brother Gulab Yadav (27) had a strained relationship with his wife.
Both the brothers were advised by Kahar to carry out a human sacrifice, which, he said, would solve their problems. The brothers allegedly decided to kill Kalawati.
On November 16, 2013, they took her to Gulab Yadav's house in Nalla Sopara, saying that she was to perform some rituals which would cure her son. During the ritual she was beheaded. Kahar's relative Satyanarayan alias Pardeshi Rambali Gound (48), his son Pankaj (22) and Yadav's friend Shyamsunder Jawahar Gupta (42) abetted the murder, according to the police. The accused put the body in a gunny sack and dumped it by the roadside.
The severed head was thrown off the Wasada bridge on Mumbai-Ahmedabad road. The anti-superstition bill, championed by the slain rationalist Dr Narendra Dabholkar, was passed by the state Assembly on Friday.
