Our intention is peaceful protest: MA Baby
Thiruvananthapuram: CPM politburo member M.A. Baby said on Wednesday that the LDF would review the Cliff House siege based on the feedback from different sections of society .
When asked about the inconvenience being caused to the public, he said the LDF was aware of the problem and would discuss the issues.
“We are aware of the criticism from the people. Many are saying that while the common people suffered, the CM is going about his business undeterred,” he said and added that the LDF’s intention was to agitate peacefully.
He said that in such agitations differences of opinion were bound to happen.
Even Mahatma Gandhi had adopted various forms of agitation during the freedom struggle and not all rose to the expectation of the people. While some people might say that the agitation should be more virulent, others may want it differently, he added.
“If there is widespread anger among the public about our agitation, then the LDF will surely review the mode of stir. We are closely following the developments and trying to get feedback from different levels,’’ he added.
CPI state secretary Pannyan Raveendran said: “We have not decided to detain or block the movement of the Chief Minister.
He is managing to go about and do his work because of our peaceful agitation. Our stir is aimed at exposing the corrupt Chief Minister and we don’t want to resort to violence to curtail his movement ,’’ he said and added that the LDF would review the Cliff House agitation at its meeting on December 19.
