Zero attendance? No problem in Osmania University
Hyderabad: The Osmania University has allowed nine students to appear for the ongoing PG semester exams despite them having zero attendance. All of the students belong to the OU PG College in Secunderabad.
As per norms, students should have 75 per cent attendance to be eligible for semester exams. A 10 per cent concession can be given on medical grounds provided a student submits a valid medical certificate.
However, the nine students have not attended classes for a single day during the 90 working days that are in each semester.
The principal of the college had refused to issue hall tickets to these students following which they missed the first two exams, which began last week.
However, the students brought pressure on the university VC and the registrar and secured hall tickets and started appearing for exams since Wednesday.
Official sources said that of the nine students, Laxmi, Anitha and Shankar were MA (History) students, Sreekanth Chary and D. Sreekanth were MA (Political Science) students and Veena studied MA (English).
There others were pursuing MA (Hindi). The MA (Hindi) students did not appear for the exams on Wednesday.
