YSRC activists block roads in Seemandhra
Anantapur: YSR Congress intensified Samaikyandhra agitation in all parts of Kurnool, Kadapa and Anantapur districts on Thursday after blocking all national and state highways demanding the Centre to rollback its decision on bifurcation of the state.
Meanwhile Samaikyandhra Parirakshana Samiti has staged protests against Congress state in-charge Digvijaya Singh’s arrival to Hyderabad.
YSR Congress leaders staged a rasta roko on NH-44 at Tapovanam Bypass road in Anantapur.
Traffic was jammed on NH between Kodikonda check-post of Karnataka borders and Kurnool outskirts due to protests by activists at various villages against the Centre’s speedy steps towards state’s division.
Police arrested the activists on NH-44 and cleared traffic.
Students JAC took out a protest rally in Anantapur and brunt the effigy of Congress in-charge of AP state affairs Digvijaya Singh at Clock Tower for his steps towards state’s bifurcation.
The Students JAC leaders alleged that Digvijaya Singh had not having support from 2 per cent of votes in his own state ,was trying to rule Andhra Pradesh.
Police arrested YSR Congress leaders including Kapu Bharathi, wife of Rayadurg MLA K. Ramachandra Reddy, at many parts of the district.
Activists blocked main roads at Kadapa raising slogans against Digvijaya Singh to go back from Andhra Pradesh.
YSR Congress district convener K. Suresh Babu and Kadapa in-charge Amjad Basha alleged that Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government was splitting state for the sake of political mileage.
They demanded the Centre to reverse its decision after considering protests from all parts of the state and remain the state undivided.
Roads were blocked at many parts of Rajampeta, Railway Kodur and Proddutur in Kadapa district.
In Kurnool district, the JAC, Samaikyandhra Parirakshana Samiti and Visalandhra Parirakshana Samiti activists took out a protest rally in Kurnool city demanding Centre to withdraw its decision on bifurcation of the state.
The activists also raised slogans against Digvijay Singh and asked him to go back from the state immediately.
