MPs vow to stall Telangana

MPs withdraw their resignation to the membership of the LS, gave notice to the Speaker.

Rajahmundry: Congress MPs from Seemandhra region vowed to put in their best efforts to stall the Centre’s move to bifurcate the state to carve out a separate Telangana state.

As one of the means to stall the process, as many as six Congress MPs gave a notice to the Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar to move a no confidence motion against the Congress-led UPA government. Out of the six, two MPs are from East Godavari- Rajahmundry MP Vundavalli Arun Kumar and Amalapuram MP G.V. Harsha Kumar.

The MPs withdrew their resignation letters to the membership of the Lok Sabha and gave a notice to the Speaker and Arun Kumar had already submitted resignation to the primary membership of the party earlier.

Another Congress MP and a staunch supporter of united AP Kanumuri Bapiraju representing Narasapuram LS segment in West Godavari said, “We are making all efforts to stall the move on Telangana and we have even moved a no confidence motion against the very government which we are part of. This move itself shows our commitment to safeguard the interests of the people from Seemandhra region.”

He said, “We are trying to mobilise support from other political parties for the no confidence motion. It is not so easy to do so. However, we are confident to mobilise the requisite support and dethrone the Congress government. If not, at least the whole nation will realise as to how crudely the Congress government is going ahead with its move on Telangana flouting all the norms including the sanctity of the Indian Constitution.”

Other Congress MPs from East Godavari echoed the similar views on the issue and reaffirm their commitment to fight against the Congress government to keep the state united.

On the other hand, Arun Kumar and G.V. Harsha Kumar are being hailed as the heroes by the people in their respective Parliamentary segments as they boldly took an initiative to rebel against the Congress government and move a no trust motion.

Though they may face disciplinary action from the Congress leadership, they command respect from the electorate they represent.
