KC(M) chief KM Mani asks PC George to show restraint and respect
Kochi: Kerala Congress Chairman and Finance Minister K.M. Mani said on Thursday that party leader and government Chief Whip P.C. George has been asked to show restraint while making statements and respect those whom he seeks to criticise.
Addressing mediapersons here, he said that a letter detailing the directions has been given to George by the three-member committee constituted by the party to probe the allegations against him.
The party was not facing any crisis over the George issue. The issues have been resolved and there was no move to remove him from the post of chief whip, he said.
The party workers will march to the central government offices on December 19 asking the centre to curb rubber imports in the wake of the steep fall in prices from Rs 280 to Rs 140 per kg.
“Though the Commerce Ministry is willing to do it, the Finance Ministry is not considerate and our agitation is to force it to correct it,” Mani said and termed the stir as not anti-centre, but pro-farmer. He wanted the import duty on rubber hiked to 20 percent.
“The stir also is against the Kasturirangan report which has unfairly treated the populated villages in the Western Ghats,” he said.
